Dear Colleagues:

Please see this year's call for proposals below from UC Online. The deadline is approaching fast on March 6, 2023.

As was the case last year, UC Online funding proposals from UC Riverside are coordinated by your UC Online liaisons: Dr. Richard Edwards (Executive Director, XCITE) and Dr. Raquel Rall (Associate Professor, School of Education). New for this year, UC Online requires that proposals receive confirmation of support from the liaisons before submitting to UC Online.

For full consideration, please submit a proposal title and abstract and the requested budget amount to Dr. Richard Edwards at richard.edwards at ucr.edu<mailto:richard.edwards at ucr.edu> and Dr. Raquel Rall at raquel.rall at ucr.edu<mailto:raquel.rall at ucr.edu> by March 1, 2023.

Both new proposals and resubmissions of unfunded proposals from last year are welcome.

Thank you!

Ken Baerenklau
Interim Vice Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education

UC ONLINE FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT

In 2022-2023, UC Online will provide approximately $2.3M in project funding in three categories for digital inclusion and online projects - courses, professional development, and research. Based on project plans submitted from campuses, award amounts will vary.

NOTE: UC Online will provide additional funds for CCES operations and change orders, as well as for cross-campus instructional funding/enrollment support. Check with your UC Online Campus Liaisons for more information. The three funding categories are described below.

1. COURSES
Funding is available for the development and enhancement of fully online courses, course sequences, minors or programs that are developed, offered and open to students across campuses through the cross-campus enrollment system (CCES). The approved course must be opened to cross-campus enrollment (five times in five years, excluding summer offerings). Courses should emphasize elements of digital inclusion and be designed to enrich and enhance student opportunities to learn and succeed.

Recommended Award: A maximum of $50K/course.

2. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Funding is available for systemwide professional development (online and in-person) that supports digital inclusion efforts. Possible projects include: professional development for faculty in online teaching to ensure student success, and the like. Priority will be given to online professional development that is open across the system and involves three or more campuses.

3. RESEARCH PROJECTS
Funding is available for systemwide research projects that focus on online course efficacy, analysis of existing data on online courses, closing equity/performance gaps in online courses, and any new research that focuses on issues related to DEI & A.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
The UC Online Leadership team requests that you share your findings or results at the conclusion project. Additionally, we ask that you submit a final expense report at the conclusion of the project.
