Scotmail Attachments
Due to restrictions regarding the campus email servers, Scotmails can contain attachments with a combined size of up to 500KB within the individual email message. If you wish to attach files larger, than 500KB in total, you must use the Scotmail Attachment tool to upload the file(s) to our server. With the Scotmail Attachment tool, you can upload files that are as large as 25MB in size. Once uploaded, you will be provided with a link to the file that you may copy and paste into the text of the Scotmail.
There are several advantages to uploading your attachment to the server:
- Ensures speedier receipt of Scotmail's
- Keeps the size of the recipient's inbox to a minimum (the attachment is stored on our server, not in the email itself)
- Ensures that the attachment will be available for at least 120 days
- Relieves the stress on campus mail servers (smaller emails mean less bandwidth requirements)
To ensure security of the Scotmail server, there are a few simple restrictions to the files that you may upload. File type restrictions:
- Microsoft Word Documents (.doc)
- Microsoft PowerPoint Documents (.ppt)
- Microsoft Excel Documents (.xls)
- Adobe Acrobat Documents (.pdf)
- JPEG Image Files (.jpg & .jpeg)
- PNG Image Files (.png)
- GIF Image Files (.gif)
- Bitmap Image Files (.bmp)
Size restriction:
- Each file uploaded to the server has a 25 MB size limit.
If the attachment meets these requirements, please follow the instructions below to upload it to the server. To upload an attachment:
- Click the browse button below.
- Select the file you wish to upload and press OK.
- Click the "Send File" button to upload the file.
- Note: if the URL returned is long or contains spaces, please enclose the URL with brackets to ensure email client compatibility
(i.e. <www.ucr.edu>).
