Dear Colleagues,
You’re invited to join us on *Wednesday, December 10* in *Downtown
Riverside* for the *2025 SoCal OASIS™ Challenge Pitch Finals*

an evening that showcases how UC Riverside research is transforming into
real-world solutions through entrepreneurship and innovation.
This year’s competition features six outstanding startup finalists
competing for *up to $70,000 in funding and mentorship* from UCR’s EPIC
Small Business Development Center. We are proud to share that *three of the
six finalists are UCR faculty-led ventures* that exemplify how academic
research can evolve into high-impact technologies serving society:

*Belleteva (Dr. Isgouhi Kaloshian – CNAS)*: Developing eco-friendly,
plant-derived biopesticides to protect citrus and other crops from disease.
-
*TollR Air (Dr. David Lo – SOM)*: Creating the first therapeutic to
treat pulmonary inflammation caused by environmental toxins and nonallergic
asthma.

*Water Illumination (Dr. Xuejun Yu – BCOE)*: Advancing vacuum-UV (VUV)
water treatment systems that destroy PFAS “forever chemicals” and other
emerging contaminants without added chemicals.
The *SoCal OASIS™ Challenge*—led by the *Office of Technology Partnerships
(OTP)*—is part of a larger effort to foster sustainable, inclusive economic
development in Inland Southern California by connecting research,
entrepreneurship, and industry collaboration.
Whether you are curious about technology transfer, considering the
commercialization potential of your own research, or simply want to support
your fellow UCR innovators, this event offers a firsthand look at how
faculty are advancing discoveries from lab to marketplace.
