Dear Faculty,
We have two important updates to share:
1. *Faculty Survey*: Please share your feedback on the new Impact23
systems to help us prioritize improvements for PI financial reports and
other important areas.
2. *Relaunch of Annual Payroll Certification Process*: A new system will
soon replace PIWRS, ensuring compliance for verifying salary charges on
federally funded projects.
Details for both updates are outlined below. Your input and engagement are
critical to these efforts and would be much appreciated.
* Faculty Survey Now Open *The Impact23 Program Team is conducting a
faculty survey to gather input on the new systems and identify needed
enhancements for PI financial reports and other important areas. While many
issues have been resolved, and users are becoming increasingly more
comfortable with the systems, we are committed to continuous improvements
to better serve our campus. Your feedback plays a crucial role in helping
us prioritize enhancements to align with faculty needs.
Please complete the survey by *February 14*. It will take no more than
10-15 minutes to complete. All responses will remain anonymous and will be
shared with the Impact23 Executive and Steering Committee, ensuring your
feedback plays a key role in shaping future improvements.

* Relaunch of Annual Payroll Certification Process *The annual payroll
certification process will relaunch within 1–2 weeks with a new system
replacing the PI Web Reporting System (PIWRS). This new *Payroll
Certifications* system ensures compliance with federal regulations for
verifying salary charges on federally funded projects.
No action is required from Principal Investigators (PIs) at this time.
To address delays caused by Impact23, past-due certifications will roll out
in two phases before transitioning to a regular schedule:
● *Phase 1:* July 1–December 31, 2023
● *Phase 2:* January 1–June 30, 2024
For each phase, Department Coordinators will have *30 days to review* and
prepare documentation (e.g., cost-sharing, salary adjustments) before PIs
are asked to certify. To assist with the process, a *PI-specific training
video* will be provided, offering guidance to complete certification.
Department Coordinators will serve as the primary point of contact for any
PI inquiries and support throughout the process.
Thank you for your ongoing engagement and commitment to improving our
systems.
Sincerely,
*Gerry Bomotti, on behalf of the Impact23 Executive Steering Committee*
