NCI Pathway to Independence Award for Early-Stage Postdoctoral Researchers
(K99/R00 - Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

The NCI Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) targets talented
postdoctoral researchers ready to transition into independent careers
without extended mentored training. Its primary goal is to foster a cohort
of NCI-supported investigators by facilitating the move from mentored
fellowships to tenure-track faculty positions. Applications are
particularly encouraged from those specializing in cancer control,
prevention, and data sciences.

Specifically for candidates proposing research that does not involve
leading an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study,
or an ancillary clinical trial.

Internal Deadline: Thursday, August 13, 2026
