Dear UC Colleagues,

For the past 80 years, the partnership between the U.S. government and
universities has fueled the nation’s leadership in science, technology,
health, and defense. That partnership is now at risk.
If the proposed FY26 funding cuts are enacted, the consequences will extend
far beyond those with federally funded research programs, impacting
innovation, the economy, and society at large.
You are invited to join *tomorrow’s national webinar*, which will spotlight
the critical role academic research plays in our daily lives. Our goal is
to raise public awareness and help lawmakers understand that cutting
science funding would reverberate far beyond university campuses.
The updated program includes an outstanding lineup of participants:

   - Nobel Laureates *Randy Schekman* and *Charles Rice*
   - NAS President *Marcia McNutt*
   - Incoming NAE President *Tsu-Jae Liu*
   - Pre-recorded reflections from Nobel Laureates *David Julius* and *Torsten
   Wiesel*
   - Faculty from across the country sharing brief (1–2 minute) stories on
how basic research drives discovery, improves lives, and serves the greater
   good

*All registrants will receive a link to the webinar recording* after the
session is edited and uploaded, so we encourage you to register even if you
cannot attend live.
