<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;color:black;mso-ligatures:none">With a sad heart, I share the news that Robert Russell, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Economics, passed away peacefully at his home,
on August 24, 2023. Kathleen Montgomery, his wife, Professor Emerita of <span style="background:white">
Organizations and Management in the School of Business, writes, “Bob was sitting in his chair with a glass of wine. It was very quick and, if you can say something about a death, it was very classy. No pain, no suffering, just closed his eyes and was gone.
It was the way he always hoped to go.”</span></span><span style="mso-ligatures:none"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-ligatures:none"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;color:black;mso-ligatures:none">Robert had an extraordinary career as an economist, a scholar and a mentor, spanning academic, government, and policy centers. The Senate
selected Robert as the Faculty Research Lecturer, the highest research honor at UCR, and a recipient of the Dissertation Advisor/Mentoring Award. He retired in 2010 as a Distinguished Professor and continued as Professor of the Graduate Division. Please read
