ASUCR STATEMENT IN SUPPORT OF PODER’S PETITION AND DEMAND AGAINST CBP AT UCR:

Dear UC Riverside students,

We are writing to you today with urgent concerns over recent news that the Career Center will be hosting Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) on April 7th, 2021, at their virtual Spring Job Fair.

As a University that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion, we find it unacceptable that CBP, a federal agency notorious for violence against immigrant communities through family separation, detention and deportation, would be invited to attend this event for our campus, undermining the safety and well-being of our undocumented student community. ASUCR stands in strong solidarity with our fellow UCR student organization, Providing Opportunities, Dreams, and Education in Riverside (PODER) in their petition and demand to uninvite CBP from next week’s virtual Spring Job Fair event.

We urge our community to stand in solidarity with undocumented students by signing the petition at tinyurl.com/UninviteCBP. We demand that UCR makes a commitment to actively refrain from supporting agencies that impose fear and violence against members and families of our undocumented community. Read our full statement here.

Best regards,

STUDENT VOICE COMMITTEE (SVC) SURVEY INFOGRAPHICS + SURVEY REQUEST FORM!!!

Hello Highlanders!

My name is Mark Hanin and I am the Vice-Chair of the Student Voice Committee (SVC). I would like to begin by once again introducing more of who we are and what our aim is as a committee in greater detail.

The Student Voice Committee is a non-political committee under the Associated Students of UCR (ASUCR) dedicated to figuring out the needs, wants, and desires of the student body. We accomplish this by conducting polls, surveys, and individual research on the relevant topics and issues that concern UCR students. Afterwards, we aggregate the data we collect and present it to our student government, campus administration, and student body at large.

The aim of our committee is to simply ensure that your voices as students are being heard, represented, and acted upon by the University as part of its governing process.

With that being said, we would like to uphold our commitment by presenting you, the student body, with the results of two surveys that we conducted earlier this year. Specifically, we would like to present you with the results of both the "Student Employment Survey" and the "Classroom Etiquette and Academic Experiences Survey" customized as infographics in PDF file format found right below for your convenience.

Student Employment Survey: https://asucr.ucr.edu/sites/g/files/rcwecm1866/files/2021-03/Student%20Employment%20Infographic.pdf

Classroom Etiquette and Academic Experiences Survey: https://asucr.ucr.edu/sites/g/files/rcwecm1866/files/2021-02/Classroom%20Etiquette%20and%20Academic%20Experiences.pdf

If you would like to know more of what we do throughout the year as a committee, feel free to also view some of our past work and results under our committee page on the ASUCR website using the following link: https://asucr.ucr.edu/leadership/voice/previous.

Finally, please do know that you are always able to complete a Survey Request Form indicating the topic(s) that you would like for us to cover in our future surveys. Individual students and on-campus student organizations are more than welcome to complete the form.

ACADEMIC ADVISING SURVEY – WIN GIFT CARDS!!!

Hello Highlanders!

The Student Voice Committee (SVC) will be raffling off Gift Cards to Amazon!!!!

All you need to do is complete a short survey sharing your thoughts about how your experience with your academic advisor(s) has been throughout your time at UCR, in-person and/or remotely, from scheduling appointments all the way to receiving guidance from your advisor(s) and acting upon it.

The goal of this survey is to analyze the various aspects of your academic advising experience so that we can understand in greater detail how UCR can better enhance your experience with your academic advisor(s) in the future.

Your feedback in this survey will be very important to ensuring that you and fellow students like yourself can gain the most out of their academic advising experience, especially as in-person instruction returns this Fall.

We strongly encourage you to complete this survey, regardless of whether or not you will be returning for the 2021-2022 academic school year as it will allow for future students and cohorts to have the successful educational experience they aspire to have while at UCR.

The link to the survey can be found right here: https://ucriverside.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0TFK6B1C72R4vk2.
