Dear Campus Community,

I am pleased to announce the official launch of our campus strategic plan, UCR 2030. The website<https://strategicplan.ucr.edu/> is now live! I encourage you to explore the site, which includes links to the strategic plans of our academic and administrative units as well. Progress on initiatives and action items will be updated annually in the spring.

As noted in my spring campus update last year<https://insideucr.ucr.edu/announcements/2022/05/23/provosts-spring-campus-update>, we chose to develop a dynamic website to enable ourselves to be nimble and adapt along the way, especially as new opportunities and challenges arise. In fact, a new opportunity has already presented itself since we finalized the matrix of central campus strategic initiatives in December.

UCR is one of the inaugural members of the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Research Universities<https://www.hsru.org/> (HSRU), which consists of the 21 federally-designated Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) that are also Carnegie-designated Research Intensive (R1) universities. This group recently held a virtual summit, at which two main goals were announced:

  1. By 2030, double the number of Hispanic doctoral students enrolled at our universities.
  2. By 2030, increase by 20% the Hispanic professoriate in our universities.
Should these goals be incorporated into our existing initiatives to improve graduate student success and pipelines and to address faculty equity and professional growth?

Please share your feedback at strategicplan at ucr.edu<mailto:strategicplan at ucr.edu>.

As we look ahead to the next academic year, the chancellor's leadership team will hold its annual retreat in September. [For information on the 2022 retreat, please see my fall campus update<https://insideucr.ucr.edu/announcements/2022/09/29/provosts-fall-campus-update>.] This year, the subject will be "UCR Post-Covid." I invite you to contribute your thoughts about the present and future of the student experience, the faculty experience, and the staff experience at UCR. The issues you raise will help the Chancellor and me to develop a set of themes and topics for the campus leadership team to address at September's full-day retreat. Share your feedback at provost at ucr.edu<mailto:provost at ucr.edu>.

I wish you all the best for the last weeks of spring quarter and for the summer months to come.

Sincerely,

Liz
