Hi Highlanders!

Hope you are all having a good day. Legislative Review Committee is an ASUCR committee that oversees all legislation being sent to the Senate. Meetings are held from 3-4 PM on Fridays on Zoom. All students submitting legislation are welcome to come.

If you are wondering what legislation is, we have an infographic explaining more info!

LRC also keeps track of all legislation being passed with the Legislation Tracker Sheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19Ugv5zZfJYu068j0Y0ZO1Z-_cmj0epOb5WPsdO0L24o/edit#gid=2001696936>. This will keep track of the progress of legislation as it passes from LRC to the Senate floor, alongside the vote counts, authors, and summaries for each one. We hope this helps with transparency and gives good insight to what the Senate does each week.

It is that time of the year for our students to go to Sacramento to meet with elected officials and advocate for UCR and UC student needs at the 2024 Student Lobby Conference. This year it will be on March 8th to the 11th and is an all-expense paid trip for UCR undergraduate students. Here are some things that we have achieved at past SLC's:

  *   Statewide Menstrual Product Equity on College Campuses
  *   Creation of Middle Class Scholarship
  *   Securing $18 Million in Funding for Disability Service Centers at the UC's
  *   Pushing for Cal Grant Expansion
  *   And so much more!!!

Are you interested in getting your voice heard by the UC system, elected officials, and other establishments? Or just become more civically engaged within a community, learn about policies, lead campus initiatives/campaigns, and advocate for student rights? Then the Civic Engagement Committee is just for you!



We are excited to announce the Civic Engagement Committee Applications for Winter 2024!

Our nonpartisan committee includes voter education, poll volunteering, and much more! Our mission is to keep highlanders informed and provide opportunities for students to stay civically engaged. Civics is key!



The CEC Winer application is now available to R'students interested in leading UC- statewide initiatives under the Office of ASUCR's External Affairs. This Quarter, our committee will focus on voter registration and voting information for the 2024 upcoming elections. The aim is to increase voter turnout among undergraduates and introduce comprehensive voter education to inform students about the significance of being civilly engaged at local and state levels and why it must be utilized by undergraduate students.


As a member of CEC, you will be given the opportunity to collab with other students, committees, organizations, politicians, etc. You will also be able to participate in academic and non-academic activities. Members are guaranteed to gain volunteering experience.
