Welcome, Highlanders!
There is an enthusiastic energy across campus as we begin the fall quarter,
and we are excited to have you here. We wish you the very best as you
settle into your classes, reconnect with friends, explore campus resources,
and establish your routines for a successful quarter. I would also like to
remind you of the importance of connecting with your community. Take
advantage of the array of welcome events that are held over the course of
the next few weeks. You can refer to the UCR events calendar
<https://events.ucr.edu/calendar> for information.
As I write this message, I recognize that midterm exams are already
looming, and I want to encourage you to prioritize your well-being as you
navigate this busy time in the quarter. Remember that taking care of
yourself is an important part of academic success. Make time to rest,
maintain balance, and reach out for help when you need it. I encourage you
to take advantage of the wonderful resources available to you at UC
Riverside, including The Well, Case Management, Counseling and
Psychological Services (CAPS), Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC),
and our Student Resource Centers. You do not have to navigate the
challenges of the quarter alone. Be intentional about caring for yourself,
connecting with others, and using the resources available to help you
thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Please take note of the following new and temporary locations in the HUB:
Foster Youth Support Programs is now located in HUB 248. Two Health,
Well-being & Safety departments have also moved:
*The Well * <https://well.ucr.edu/>
*New main temporary location**:* The Well is now located on the third floor
of the HUB Building in Room 381.
Please note that The Well’s space inside the Student Health Center is a
satellite location, not its main office.
*Open House**:* Join The Well on October 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to
learn more about its services, resources, and upcoming programming.
*Campus Advocacy, Resources, & Education (CARE)* <https://care.ucr.edu/>
CARE advocates are located inside the Student Health and Counseling Center
on the second floor, within Counseling & Psychological Services.
CARE’s Prevention office is next door to The Well on the third floor of the
HUB Building in Room 377.
Appointments with CARE advocates can be made by:
- Calling the main CARE line at (951) 827-6225
- Emailing CARE Advocates at advocate at ucr.edu
- Submitting an Advocate Appointment Request Form on the CARE website:
https://care.ucr.edu/get-help/make-an-appointment#no-back
- Stopping by the front desk at HUB 377 with questions about CARE
services
Throughout the year, watch for announcements about programming, workshops,
events, and opportunities offered by The Well, CARE, and Foster Youth
Support Programs. Staying connected will help you make the most of these
valuable campus resources. Additionally, if you have any questions or need
assistance finding your way on campus, feel free to contact the Office of
the Dean of Students at deanofstudents at ucr.edu or 951-827-6095
