[Students] A New Era of Highlander Athletics Is Here!

[Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs]

Dear Highlanders,

A new era of UCR Athletics is here, and you are a big part of it. Our
student-athletes spent the summer training to represent UCR as a proud NCAA
Division I program.

I'm Greg Paules, UCR's Athletic Director. Since arriving on campus a few
months ago, I've had the chance to meet a lot of you, and I'm proud to lead
an athletic program that gets to represent this great institution and this
terrific student body.

Last year, one of your classmates, Chelsea Aninyei, became a First Team
All-American after finishing fifth in the nation in the triple jump.
Chelsea helped us end last spring on a high note, and this year we want to
build something even bigger. We need you to help us do it.

Your Student ID gets you into every UCR home sporting event for FREE.

We want packed stands. We want energy. We want you to enjoy the free food
and swag we often give away at home games. And we want our student-athletes
to look into the crowd and know their community is behind them.

This year, we have something new to rally around: the Crosstown Showdown.
Our rivalry with California Baptist University, just a few miles down the
road, will run the entire year, with every matchup earning points toward a
championship trophy.

And it all starts this Saturday, September 26, right here at UCR.

So here's my ask:

Come to the games. Bring your friends and make new ones. Wear blue and
gold. Be loud. Help us create a home-field advantage our student-athletes
can feel.

You don't have to know every rule and you don't have to be a lifelong
sports fan to have fun at our games. I'm inviting you to be part of this
community. We're building this together, and I can't wait to cheer
alongside you.

Check out www.gohighlanders.com for schedules and information, get a group
of friends together, and let's show our competition what Riverside looks
like when the Highlanders show up.

Go Highlanders!
