<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">We unequivocally condemn the recent violent and racist attacks in the Bay Area and nationally against Asians, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Since the outset of the pandemic, violent attacks, and hate incidents toward Asians and Pacific Islanders have increased – including troubling incidents on our own campus. While these particular attacks may have made state and national headlines and have been
stoked by anti-Chinese rhetoric during the pandemic crisis, they are emblematic of longstanding discrimination toward the Asian and Pacific Islander community since the building of the US transcontinental railroad and global imperial wars before that. And
all are unacceptable. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">This conduct has no place at UC Riverside, does not reflect our values, and will not be tolerated.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
