[Tapscustomers] Construction Alert – Canyon Crest Drive Asphalt Maintenance (Oct. 27–31, 2025)

Transportation Services has received construction alerts from the North
District Phase 2 project on Canyon Crest drive regarding required asphalt
maintenance work that will take place on Canyon Crest Drive in the City of
Riverside.  This work will impact all traffic on Canyon Crest between *Monday
October 27, 2025 and Friday October 31, 2025.*



*Traffic Impact:*
All vehicle lanes on Canyon Crest Drive between *University Avenue and
Blaine Street* will be affected. Individuals are strongly advised to avoid
the area during this period. Those who must travel through the construction
zone should review the details provided below.



*Parking Permit Holders:*
Permit holders assigned to parking lots along Canyon Crest Drive, including
*Bannockburn* and *Falkirk Apartments*, will receive additional email
communications with specific information regarding access to their assigned
lots. Please note that while *entrances to Lot 24 may be intermittently
closed*, *one of the two entrances will remain open at all times*.



*Construction Schedule & Details:*

* 1. Asphalt Grinding: Monday, Oct. 27 – Tuesday, Oct. 28*

·       Asphalt grinding operations will begin on Monday, October 27, 2025
and are scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

·       The entire width of the vehicle travel lanes on Canyon Crest
between University Avenue and Blaine Street will be affected.

·       Work will begin at Blaine Street headed south toward University
Ave.

·       To minimize the uneven surface’s impacts on pedestrians, scooters,
and bicycles, the inside lane(s) will be ground first followed by the
outside lane(s). During this phase of work cross streets and driveways may
be blocked for up to 20-minutes as the equipment passes through the area.

·       Additional grinding will take place on Linden Street from Canyon
Crest to Lot 25 in the westbound lanes.

* 2. Asphalt Overlay: Wednesday, Oct. 29 – Friday, Oct. 31*

·       Once all grinding for the entire length of Canyon Crest is
complete, installing the asphalt overlay will begin with material formally
scheduled to be delivered Wednesday, October 29 through Friday, October 31,
2025.

·       To minimize the uneven surface’s impacts on pedestrians, scooters,
and bicycles, the paving will be completed starting with the outside lanes
first, then the inside lane(s) second.

·       During the paving phase of work, cross streets and driveways may be
blocked for up to 3 hours as the equipment passes through the area and the
asphalt is cooled and compacted.

·       Impacted locations include:

o   Bannockburn’s North and South parking lots

o   Falkirk Apartments’ east lot off Canyon Crest Dr.

o   Lot 26 entrance on Canyon Crest Dr.

o   Both the east and west Linden St. approaches to Canyon Crest Dr.

 *3. Pavement Markings*

·       Temporary pavement markers will be installed during paving

·       Permanent roadway markings will be added in the following weeks.



*Access to Campus Facilities:*

During construction hours, access to university facilities located along
Linden St. including, on-campus student housing, Student Recreation Center,
Transportation Services, Facilities Services, Environmental Health &
safety, Student Health & Counseling Center, Fleet Services, and Campus
Business Services will be accessible from Watkins Dr. via the Corporation
Yard or from the campus core from Aberdeen Dr.



*Transit Information:*

Riverside Transit Authority (RTA) riders should check RTA’s rider alerts
for transit bus stop relocation impact by this work.
