[Ucrfacultyandstaff] HR Interim Leadership Announcement

As you may already know, Tammy Few, Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer (AVC/CHRO) has announced that she is leaving UCR effective June 23, 2021.  We wish Tammy all the best in her future endeavors and we thank her for her contributions to UCR during the past year, which was a very challenging time due to the pandemic.
After careful consideration and reviewing the input from HR staff as well as our campus HR partners, we are moving ahead to establish an interim leadership structure for UCR Human Resources.
John Stephen Henderson who is currently Director of Total Rewards at UC Berkeley has graciously agreed to serve as Interim AVC/CHRO effective June 24th.  John Stephen is a former UCR HR team member and as such is familiar with UCR's culture, policies, procedures and employee needs.  While he was at UCR, he did an excellent job as Director of Total Compensation and as interim AVC for HR as well.   I want to thank John Stephen, as well as the leadership at UCB, for allowing us to implement this interim structure.
John Stephen will be working with the existing HR leadership to establish co-leads reporting directly to John Stephen in the interim to support the operations of the office.  The specifics on this structure will hopefully be in place in the very near future.  We will also likely reach out to our Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) across campus to review options where they can partner with central HR to support important services.
We will develop a plan for the recruitment of permanent HR leadership in the near future, and keep the campus updated.
I am grateful for the campus' input, feedback and advice and to John Stephen, our central HR staff,  and our campus HR partners who have demonstrated their strong commitment to UCR and are willing to step up and support the HR team during this interim period.
