UCR joins research consortium
The campus has joined the Institute for Research on Innovation and Science, a consortium of leading higher educational institutions. Membership will provide access to data on the impacts of research funding.

NIH grant to support cerebral malaria research
Byron Ford, a professor of biomedical sciences, has received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to develop a new intervention against cerebral malaria.

Updated COVID-19 protocols for fully vaccinated employees
The campus has adopted more robust testing protocols requiring all fully vaccinated, asymptomatic employees working on campus to take a PCR test at least once a month.

New interim police chief appointed
Lt. Anthony Frisbee from the UC Irvine Police Department has been appointed as interim chief of the UCR Police Department. He will work with interim Police Chief John Freese in the transition before Freese's retirement this month.

New AVC/chief information officer appointed
Matthew Gunkel will join UCR on March 10 as associate vice chancellor/chief information officer. He comes to UCR from the University of Missouri, where he served as chief online learning and technology officer.
