Re:          UCR's Performance Management Process: Forms and Resources for 2021-2022
It's time once again for performance appraisals to be completed. Human Resources (HR) understands ongoing dialogue between supervisors and staff is an integral and fundamental part of the performance management process. Performance appraisals enable supervisors to engage employees in a dialogue about how well the employee is performing their job duties and to discuss goals for the coming year.

The 2021-2022 Performance Management (PM) forms, are now available on the HR Performance Management Forms and Documents website<https://hr.ucr.edu/about-us/forms-and-documents/performance-managment-forms-documents#pm_forms>. The available forms include:


  *   Performance Appraisal Form
  *   Performance Appraisal Addendum
  *   Supplemental Performance Feedback Form
  *   Goal Agreement Form

Performance appraisals are required annually for all career employees [see PPSM 23: Performance Management<https://policy.ucop.edu/doc/4010397/PPSM-23> and Local Procedure 23<https://hr.ucr.edu/sites/g/files/rcwecm656/files/2019-09/policy-procedure_ppsm23_local-performance-management.pdf>]. HR has posted helpful resources<https://hr.ucr.edu/about-us/forms-and-documents/performance-managment-forms-documents#pm_guides> to assist with those conversations and prepare for the annual appraisal process, including:


  *   Calibration Resource Guide
  *   Performance Factors and Behavior Indicators Guide
  *   Overview on Setting Smart Goals
  *   UCR Campuswide Standards and Guidelines

For the 2021-2022 evaluation period, each organizational unit must certify to HR by Friday, May 27, 2022 that all staff have received annual appraisals for the 12-month performance period ending on March 31, 2022. During this time, HR will be sending out a series of communications titled "Helpful Hints". The Helpful Hints will provide information on resources and trainings that are available to staff and supervisors. Finally, during March you will see announcements regarding the availability of other PM resources, including:


*       Suggested Timeline - to keep staff and supervisors on schedule with process milestones.

*       Performance Management designated email address - now available so questions can be quickly asked and answered: performancemanagement at ucr.edu<mailto:performancemanagement at ucr.edu>

*       HR Helpful Hints - a section in the PM website, open to all supervisors and employees, in which HR will provide useful tips and other information to help users navigate the PM process and prepare for this year's performance appraisal.

The current Performance Management review cycle will end on March 31, 2022. As reminder, completion of, or failure to complete, the following UC-required training will be reflected in the completed Performance Appraisal form and will impact merit pay:



  *   UC Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for Supervisors and Faculty
  *   Cyber Security Awareness Training for all UC Staff and Faculty
