Dear Campus Community,

As we welcome new and returning students to UCR this week, I want to acknowledge that last week was National Postdoc Appreciation Week. Our hardworking postdoctoral scholars are an integral part of our community and contribute greatly to our academic mission.

One excellent example is Dr. Esther Omaiye, who has recently been awarded a grant from the University of California's Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program to investigate how rations of solvents and chemical mixtures in e-cigarettes influence their toxicity. You can learn more about their work here: https://insideucr.ucr.edu/awards/2023/08/28/grant-postdoc-will-increase-understanding-how-e-cigarettes-affect-human-health.

Please join me in recognizing and thanking the more than 200 talented individuals who work at UCR as postdocs. We appreciate them 52 weeks a year!

Sincerely,

Liz
