[Ucrfacultyandstaff] Interim Advancement and Communications Appointments

[UCR Chancellor]

Dear Campus Community,

I’m pleased to announce two important interim campus leadership
appointments.

Beginning Aug. 16, Kim McDade will step into the role of interim vice
chancellor for University Advancement. Kim currently serves as chief
financial and administrative officer for University Advancement and vice
president and CFO of the UC Riverside Foundation.

Prior to arriving at UCR in 2018, Kim was a senior associate director for
athletics at the University of Delaware and served in several advancement
roles across campus over 16 years at the University of Michigan.

John Warren has been appointed interim associate vice chancellor and chief
communications and marketing officer, also effective Aug. 16.

As senior director of news and content since 2016, John has overseen media
relations, research communications, UCR Magazine, internal communications,
and crisis communications.

Before coming to UCR, John was a public affairs manager at the Thomas
Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, one of 17 Department of Energy
labs in the U.S.

John also had a long and successful career as a journalist, serving as a
reporter, editor, and columnist.

Associate Chancellor Michael Richards will also provide operational support
during this interim period, to support alignment with the priorities of the
Office of the Chancellor.

As previously announced, Johnny Cruz will be departing UC Riverside to join
the University of Arizona as chief communications and marketing officer.

Please join me in thanking Kim, John, and Michael for stepping into these
important roles and supporting their success.
