Dear UC Riverside Community,
As part of our institutional obligations under recent state
legislation—Senate Bill 98 (2025) and the continuing provisions of Assembly
Bill 21 (2017)—I write to
share important guidance related to potential immigration enforcement
activities at or near UC Riverside.
We understand that this topic may raise concern or uncertainty for many
members of our campus community. At UC Riverside, we remain committed to
fostering a safe and inclusive environment, one guided by our *Principles
of Community*
<https://documents.ucr.edu/chancellor/Principles_of_Community.pdf>. These
values and principles guide our work and shape how we respond in moments of
uncertainty, ensuring our ability to protect the safety and dignity of
everyone in our community while upholding the law.
As always, our work is rooted in the public mission of teaching, research,
and service. We carry out that mission with a commitment to dignity,
safety, and legal integrity for all who learn and work here. With support
from the University of California Office of the President, we are closely
monitoring developments and have prepared a coordinated response should any
such activity occur.
*Stay Connected: Our Commitment to Transparency and Communication*
If we confirm the presence of non-UCR, immigration-related law enforcement
activity at any UCR location, we will inform you immediately *via email* to
ensure timely and transparent communication.
