ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT TEAM INVITES PUBLIC TO COMMENT
“A team of assessors from the International Association of Campus Law
Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) will arrive on Sunday, April 26, 2026,
to examine all aspects of the University of California, Riverside Police
Department’s policy and procedures, management, operation, and support
services,” Chief Jeff Talbott announced today.
“Verification by the team that the University of California, Riverside
Police Department meets IACLEA’s industry-leading standards is part of a
voluntary process to gain accreditation – a highly sought and challenging
to achieve, recognition of a sustained commitment towards professional
excellence in campus public safety,” Talbott said.
University members, agency employees, and the public are invited to offer
comments on the UCR Police Department by calling 951-827-6188 on Monday,
April 27, between 10:00 a.m and 12:00 p.m. Calls will be answered directly
by the IACLEA assessment team.
Telephone comments must address the department’s demonstrated commitment to
compliance with IACLEA’s standards. The IACLEA Accreditation Standards
Manual is available on the IACLEA website (iaclea.org
<http://www.iaclea.org/>).
Anyone wishing to submit written comments regarding the University of
California, Riverside Police Department’s compliance with the standards for
accreditation may email them to IACLEA Managing Director of Professional
Services, Jerry Murphy, at jmurphy at iaclea.org.
“The University of California, Riverside Police Department must comply with
227 standards in order to achieve accredited status,” Chief Jeff Talbott
said. Achieving IACLEA accreditation for the UCR Police Department
validates the pledge to our campus community that your Police Department is
committed to the highest standards of professionalism and adherence to the
gold standard of policies and procedures within the international policing
profession.
The accreditation manager for the University of California, Riverside
Police Department is Rebekka Ivancic, Administrative Officer II. “The
assessment team is composed of experienced campus law enforcement
professionals from both within and outside of the state. The assessors will
review written materials, interview individuals, and inspect facilities
where compliance can be observed. The assessors are: Chief Richard White,
team leader, and Chief Nina Jamsen. Once the assessors complete their
review of the department, they will report back to the IACLEA Accreditation
Commission, which will evaluate if the department is to be granted
accredited status,” Ivancic said.
Accreditation is a four-year certification, during which the department
must submit annual reports attesting to continued compliance with those
standards under which it was initially accredited.
