[UCR Provost]

Dear Colleagues,

I am deeply saddened to inform the campus community of the January 11 death
of Maria
Zepeda, a medical assistant at UCR Health.

Maria joined the Department of Women’s Health in 2022, where she played a
key role in the
growth of the Obstetrics Program.

She is remembered by colleagues for her professionalism, problem-solving
skills, and
unwavering commitment to providing high-quality patient care. Her kindness,
warmth, and
joyful spirit uplifted colleagues and created a sense of family in the
workplace. We are grateful
for her service to UCR and her commitment to improving the health of the
Inland Southern
California community.

Maria is survived by three beloved daughters. Please keep her family,
friends, and colleagues in
your thoughts during this time of sorrow.
