[Ucrfacultyandstaff] Senior Leadership Review for Vice Chancellor of Health Sciences and School of Medicine Dean Deborah Deas

UCR Provost provost at ucr.edu
Mon Sep 28 09:25:44 PDT 2026

Dear Colleagues,

Pursuant to Regents Policy 7702 ‒ Performance Management Review Process, a
senior leadership development assessment of all Senior Management Group
(SMG) members is required every five years. I am writing to review the
accomplishments of Dr. Deborah Deas, who has served as the vice chancellor
for health sciences and the Mark and Pam Rubin dean of the School of
Medicine at UC Riverside since 2016. The focus of this assessment is on Dr.
Deas' accomplishments since 2021.

I would appreciate your thoughts and comments via this confidential online
form <https://ucriverside.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7VV0n56To9RzQ58>.
Please comment specifically on Dr. Deas’ leadership, vision, and skills.
This can include strengths and areas for development, as well as any
specific challenges you observe in her areas of responsibility and your
advice on confronting these challenges and providing leadership in the
future. Because Dr. Deas has a dual role as both a vice chancellor and a
dean, you are invited to provide feedback on her performance in each of
these capacities. Your response will be shared with the confidential review
committee and be held in strict confidence.

For further information on the criteria for evaluation for this assessment
and materials related to this position, I encourage you to review the Senior
Leadership Development Assessment Site
<https://chancellor.ucr.edu/senior-leadership-development-assessments>,
including the org chart. This is also an important time to remind the
campus community of the regular avenues to provide feedback, including the
annual review process and the campus hub to assist with reporting concerns
<https://help.ucr.edu/>.

If you have any questions about this request, please contact Corinna Corpuz
at corinnac at ucr.edu. I hope to receive your response by Friday, October 16,
2026. Thank you for your participation.

Sincerely,

Liz
