<p class="MsoNormal">Please join me in congratulating Jennifer Brown, vice provost and dean of Undergraduate Education. Earlier today she was named provost of Cal Poly Pomona.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Jennifer has had a huge impact on undergraduate education in her four-year tenure at UCR. Among many successful projects, her office spearheaded a partnership with ITS on the
<a href="https://news.ucr.edu/articles/2021/07/21/classroom-technology-rise">RISE classrooms</a>, which equipped all 110 general assignment classrooms with new video and audio equipment to support in-person and virtual instruction.
<a href="https://news.ucr.edu/articles/2021/02/02/mentoring-text-message">Campus Collective</a>, a text messaging program designed to connect continuing students with first-year and transfer students, launched in 2020. To build an ecosystem of learning that
will help students weather the long-term effects of the pandemic, her office developed
<a href="https://insideucr.ucr.edu/announcements/2021/10/01/student-success-resources">
a panoply of initiatives</a> aimed at helping students form better connections with each other and to attain stronger achievement outcomes, higher graduation rates, and increased satisfaction with their college experience.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Two other notable achievements include development of the Exploration Center for Innovative Teaching and Engagement, or
<a href="https://xcite.ucr.edu/">XCITE</a>, and the <a href="https://ue.ucr.edu/scottybot">
ScottyBot</a> chatbot resource.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Jennifer’s influence will remain strong in so many areas of undergraduate education that her presence will continue to be felt even though we will miss her tremendously. She leaves behind a solid platform on which we can continue to build
structures that support student success. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Jennifer’s last day at UCR will be March 18. We wish her much success at Cal Poly!<o:p></o:p></p>
