Good day UCR faculty and colleagues. We have three items to share with you:

  1. Please join us to learn more about running a high-impact, experiential learning opportunity for students with a UCR Faculty-Led Education Abroad Program (FLEAP)! Throughout the month of May, we are hosting a series of meetings that outline the process for creating a program with our team (Education Abroad Office) and our network of Third-Party Provider programs (TPP), such as AIFS, ISA, CAPA and how they can help you build an engaging, safe and affordable experience for UCR students. In these meetings, you will learn about:

     * Benefits for faculty, such as broadening student interest in a particular field, free travel, expanding global networks, enriching professional credentials, and how running a FLEAP can fit into a tenure package
     * Assistance offered by the UCR Education Abroad Office
     * Support offered by Third-Party Providers

  1. As a reminder, the UCR’s Education Abroad office is calling for interested UCR faculty to share preliminary ideas to run a FLEAP for summer 2024. If you are interested, please complete our short form (phase 1) with as much detail as possible, indicating areas of flexibility, even if you ran a program previously or submitted a proposal in the past: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScd7ATEELyKLHUUyBuEF7tPQhDCV9kyp0p-6zKkMiBVKuDenQ/viewform. The deadline for submitting the phase 1 interest form is Monday, May 23, 2022, by 5:00 pm (PST).

  1. Here’s what one of our FLEAP faculty said about their experience: “Working with ISA/Worldstrides was a dream come true. Not only was our group guaranteed a knowledgeable hand on the other side of the Atlantic but having someone show us the ropes for navigating unfamiliar terrain brought us up to speed, allowing us to get to know Scotland at a much quicker pace. ISA/Worldstrides proved to be an invaluable on-the-ground resource and offered a built-in familiarity that made traveling abroad deeply rewarding.” - Professor Richard Rodriguez, UCR FLEAP Scotland 2018
