[Faculty] NSF awards update

Dear Colleagues,

We are happy to announce some good news about federal research funding.
First, our campus has now approved the release of funds on all NSF awards,
subawards, amendments, and extensions that had been temporarily placed on
hold.
Likewise, unless further notice, all incoming awards will be posted as soon
as possible.
Please note that not all UC campuses are in the same position, so if you
have a
subaward from another campus the award may still be on hold.

Second, because of the outcomes of court rulings on several legal actions,
including
some in which UC was a direct plaintiff, we are allowed at this time to use
our
federally negotiated F&A rate with all federal funding agencies. The
appropriate
language to use in the proposals has been communicated with the staff
involved in the
proposal budget planning in each unit.

Finally, we have heard already that several awards and programs from
multiple federal
agencies which were cancelled or non-renewable have now been allowed to
continue.
Although not all cancelled awards have been reinstated, we continue to
receive notices,
and we hope more will be reinstated in the future. If you receive a notice
from your
funding agency, please share with the RED office. If you have any
questions, please
contact REDalert at ucr.edu.

We hope this news helps with your valuable research and productivity, and we
appreciate your patience as we navigate the fluid and complicated federal
funding times
in which we live.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Watkins
Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor

Rodolfo H. Torres
Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development
