Highlanders using self-managed devices may download and install the new
campus VPN, while users of managed Windows and Mac devices may connect to
the new VPN from their device.
Colleagues,
On March 11, 2026, UC Riverside will decommission its old virtual private
network (VPN), Palo Alto (GlobalProtect). To ensure continued access to the
campus VPN, users of GlobalProtect VPN should transition to using the new
campus VPN, Cisco Secure (AnyConnect). The new VPN was released to campus
in October 2025

efforts to further improve UCR’s network infrastructure.
