New Contract Ratification for Patient Care Technical (EX) and Service (SX)
Employees
Dear Colleagues:
The University is pleased to announce that UC’s Service and Patient Care
Technical employees, represented by AFSCME, have ratified a new four-year
contract. These agreements recognize the vital role these employees play in
delivering world-class service to our students, patients, faculty, staff,
and the public.
Key highlights of the agreement include:
*Compensation: *The new contract continues UC’s tradition of providing
competitive compensation with guaranteed, multi-year pay increases as
follows:
*Annual Wage Increases (ATBs)/Equity Increases + Guaranteed Step:*
- April 2026: 6% increase (+ 2% step increase in July 2026)
- April 2027: 5% increase, including a 1% equity pool (+ 2% step
increase in July 2027)
- April 2028: 4% increase (+ 2% step increase in July 2028)
- April 2029: 4% increase (+ 2% step increase in July 2029)
- Minimum Wage: Increases to $25 in 2025, $26.50 in 2026, and $30.10
by April 2029.
- Additional Payments: A $1,500 ratification lump sum for
non-probationary career workers and a $1,000 longevity payment for those
with 20 years of service. Employees at the top of their pay scales will
receive 2% lump-sum payments in lieu of step increases.
- Shift Differentials: Increased to a $1.25 minimum.
*Health Benefits: *
- Blue & Gold HMO: 5% cap on annual premium increases, plus subsidies.
- Kaiser HMO: 7.5% cap on annual premium increases, plus subsidies.
*Other Benefits:*
- Time Off: Added a floating personal day and premium pay for MLK
Holiday and December 24th.
- Leaves: New leaves for childcare and for victims/survivors of
violence.
- Parking: Rate increase caps maintained at $10 or 10%.
- Per Diems: 16 hours of sick leave per year, with carry-over up to a
24-hour maximum.
These contracts, effective through November 30, 2029, provide long-term
stability for both bargaining unit members and the University. Training on
the new provisions is currently under development and will be available
soon.
