[Senate] Passing of William Herbert Orttung, Professor Emeritus in Chemistry

Dear colleagues,

On January 5, 202, William Orttung, Professor Emeritus in Chemistry, passed away at the age of 88, surrounded by family.

As a faculty at UCR from 1963 until his retirement in 1994, Bill led a stellar career in chemistry research and a teacher-mentor for numerous students, including the first international student to receive a PhD in Chemistry at UCR. You can read his full obituary here:
