Re: Outcome of Divisional Voting on Senate Membership Memorials

Dear Division Chairs,

On December 18, 2024, the systemwide Academic Senate Office received certified votes from the San Francisco Senate Division on two memorials regarding Senate membership. UCSF petitioned for extension of Senate membership to faculty with > 50% effort in the Health Sciences Clinical and Adjunct Professor series. Per Senate Bylaw 90.D.2, divisional voting on the memorials was opened for 90 calendar days and closed on March 18, 2025. Each division conducted its vote in accordance with local Senate bylaw provisions.

The systemwide Senate Office has received certified results from all nine divisions that held votes. In accordance with Senate Bylaw 90.D.5, I am notifying divisions that both memorials failed in all nine divisions. As a result, the memorials do not meet the threshold required to advance to a Senate-wide mail ballot. Under Senate Bylaw 90.D.5, a memorial must be approved by at least three divisions representing 35% of total Senate membership to proceed.

A summary of voting outcomes is provided in the attachment.
