UCR Senate Town Hall – Future of Doctoral Programs at the UC (In-person)

Dear Colleagues,

The Graduate Council of the UCR Division of the Academic Senate will host an in-person division Town Hall on the Future of Doctoral Programs at the UC on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in Winston Chung Hall (WCH) 205/206. This will be an opportunity to hear from faculty and student speakers representing various colleges, disciplines, and interdisciplinary programs on the pressing concerns facing UCR's graduate programs and the applicability/limitations of the issues laid out in the UC Report on Future of Doctoral Programs for UCR. The goal of the Town Hall is for faculty to collectively begin discussions to ensure that there are plans in place to address the unique challenges we face at UCR as well as those in common with other UC campuses. It is anticipated that the forum will provide a venue to guide plans for the future of graduate education at UCR with appropriate consideration of discipline specific needs and in alignment with the educational, research and scholastic missions of UCR.

Best Regards,
Viji Santhakumar, Graduate Council Chair
Ken Barish, Academic Senate Chair
