Dear Campus Community,
UC Riverside has joined other University of California campuses and the California Department of Public Health to pilot a program aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19.
All you need is your cell phone to activate the California COVID Notify exposure notification system. The technology, developed by Apple and Google, is safe and private. The technology will not disclose your name, location, or other personal information.
iPhone User Activation
You have to update the iOS on your phone to version 14.2 to use California COVID Notify. To activate exposure notifications, go to Settings. Once in Settings, scroll down to Exposure Notification and turn it on. Turn on your Bluetooth.
Android User Activation
California COVID Notify can be found as an app on Google Play<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gov.ca.covid19.exposurenotifications>. Once downloaded make sure to turn on your Bluetooth. Since this is a pilot, the app might not be visible through the search function on Google Play yet.
To learn more about California COVID Notify visit our Campus Return website<https://campusreturn.ucr.edu/california-covid-notify>. A brief video animation overview is available on the UCR YouTube channel<https://youtu.be/kbl6mUd4UA8>.
Thank you for your participation. Together we can help fight the spread and keep ourselves and our friends, family, and communities healthy.
Sincerely,
Deborah Deas,
Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences and Dean, School of Medicine
Co-chair, Testing Working Group
Rodolfo Torres,
