*Dear Highlanders,*

Welcome to Fall Quarter 2025 at the University of California, Riverside!
Whether you are returning to campus or joining us for the first time, I am
thrilled to see our community come alive again with your energy, talents,
and ideas.

My name is Dr. Christine Mata, Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of
Students. I am excited to see all that you will accomplish this year and
what we will build together as a campus community.

The start of a new academic year brings excitement, and it’s natural to
feel a little nervous, too. The world can feel complex and challenging, and
beginning a new academic journey can bring many emotions. Here’s what I
know about our Highlander community: UCR is a place where students support
one another, foster curiosity and creativity, and work together to create
positive change. It is also a place where you can discover your passions
and interests.

As you embark on this quarter, I encourage you to care for your whole self,
mind, body, and spirit, alongside your academic pursuits. Balancing
classes, work, and life can be challenging, but you are not alone. The Well

well-being. Please reach out whenever you need to.

This season is full of fresh starts and new opportunities. Get to know your
