Re:       UC PPSM 84: Lactation Accommodation - Management Consultation Review and Comment Period





The University of California's Office of the President in consultation with UC Legal and the UC Lactation Coordinator group conducted a full review of UC's PPSM 84: Lactation Accommodation policy. The proposed revisions to the policy are ready for management consultation review and comment.



Review and Comment

The proposed policy revisions include, but are not limited to:



*       revisions to:

o   Policy Name - "Accommodations for Nursing Mothers" proposed change "Lactation Accommodation."

o   Lactation Facilities proposed change "Lactation Spaces."

o   Language pertaining to exempt and non-exempt employees in relation to break time to accommodate lactation.

o   Explanation on reasonable accommodation.

*       a new section on how to file a complaint.

*       requirements to distribute the policy to new employees upon hire and upon inquiry about or request for parental bonding.



Next Steps:

o   what is new,

o   how it will impact your organizational unit, and

o   where strategic change may need to occur within your organizational unit.
